INCENSE WORKSHOP

Hand-Rolled Incense Workshop in Los Angeles

Step into the rich, sensory world of traditional incense-making at our Eagle Rock Garden Studio in Los Angeles. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn to blend aromatic woods, resins, herbs, and natural fragrance materials into your own personalized incense.

Along the way, you’ll explore the history and traditions of incense-making and learn the basic principles behind creating a balanced incense blend. Rather than simply following one fixed recipe, you’ll gain an understanding of how different materials work together, giving you the freedom to adjust proportions and create blends based on scent, mood, ritual, or personal preference.

You’ll learn how to make incense dough from scratch, then shape it by hand into both traditional incense sticks and cones. We’ll work with a range of classic materials, including fragrant woods, botanicals, and resins, while discussing their aromatic qualities, traditional uses, and cultural associations.

Each student will create several custom blends and hand-roll their own incense sticks and cones, taking home up to two dozen pieces to dry and enjoy at home.

This beginner-friendly workshop is tactile, aromatic, creative, and deeply relaxing. It’s perfect for anyone interested in natural fragrance, traditional craft, ritual, or simply spending an afternoon making something beautiful by hand.
