Traditional KITSUGI is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum.bInstead of hiding the flaws, Kintsugi celebrates them, creating a beautiful piece with visible scars.
In our Modern Technique KINTSUGI Workshop, you’ll learn how to repair broken pottery using alternative materials like epoxy resin and metallic pigments, while learning about the history and philosophy behind the traditional technique.
Modern technique kintsugi involves using alternative materials like epoxy resin mixed with gold or other metallic pigments. This approach prioritizes convenience and accessibility, allowing for quicker and easier repairs.
Traditional kintsugi adheres strictly to the original Japanese method, which utilizes natural lacquer and precious metals like gold or silver powder. This technique utilizes a material called urushi, which is derived from the sap of a tree closely related to poison oak and ivy, making it toxic and difficult to work with.
Traditional KINTSUGI requires a high degree of craftsmanship and patience. MODERN TECHNIQUE KINTSUGI allows us to celebrate imperfection and emphasize the beauty of embracing flaws, but in a more accessible and practicalmodality.
No prior experience is necessary! Our workshops are suitable for beginners and experienced crafters alike. Our instructors will guide you through each step of the process.

Modern Method Kintsugi is considered non-toxic, but not strictly food safe.
We love sustainable crafts at The Magic Brush Room, and consider learning the art of Kintsugi to be very environmentally friendly, as it repurposes something useless and broken into a unique piece of usable art!
